SVG or PNG?

SVG keeps shapes as vectors: it stays sharp at any size and can be opened and edited in Figma, Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity Designer or a code editor. It is the right choice for icons, illustrations and handing a screen to another design tool. PNG is a picture: what you see is exactly what you get, it opens everywhere, and it suits slides, documents, chat messages and app store screenshots. 2x and 3x PNGs are the same picture at double and triple resolution, as phones and retina screens need.

One artboard, free

  1. Drop the .xd file on this page.
  2. Click an artboard in the grid to open it.
  3. Use SVG, PNG or PNG 2x in the bar at the top. The file is made on your device and saved straight away.

Every artboard at once

With the one-time £9 unlock, the Export tab makes one ZIP with every artboard as SVG and as PNG at 1x, 2x and 3x (choose which), every picture embedded in the design as its original file, and the handoff sheet if you want it. Artboards with the same name get numbered so nothing is overwritten.

What to expect in the SVG

  • Shapes, paths, boolean shapes, groups, masks, gradients, image fills, borders (inside, outside and centre), dashes, drop shadows, blur, opacity and blend modes are written as standard SVG.
  • Pictures are embedded inside the SVG, so the file is self-contained.
  • Text stays text, with its font named. Install the fonts for an exact match; the export notes list which fonts the design uses.
  • A few XD effects have no SVG equivalent. Background blur is written as the translucent panel without the blur behind it, and angular gradients become straight ones. The page lists anything like this for the file you opened, so you are never surprised later.

Exporting individual icons and images

The Images tab lists every picture embedded in the design with its size, and saves any of them as the original file, named after the layer that uses it. Exporting a single icon or group as its own SVG isn’t possible yet; export the artboard as SVG and copy the part you need in your design tool or editor.

One-time unlock

Export the whole design, and the handoff

Viewing every artboard, inspecting layers and saving any one artboard as SVG or PNG is free, for as long as you like. For handing a design over properly, one payment adds:

  • All artboards as one PDF, one page each, with bookmarks named after the artboards.
  • A ZIP of every artboard as SVG and as PNG at 1x, 2x and 3x.
  • Every embedded image as its original file, named after its layer.
  • A handoff sheet: colours (hex, RGBA, HSL, where used), character styles, text styles in use, fonts and every text layer per artboard, as CSV and text, plus tokens.json.

No account and no subscription. Files still never leave your device.
