Short version: your design files never leave your device, and there are no cookies.
Who runs this
Afterboard is run by ALGD LTD, a company registered in Northern Ireland, number NI744090. ALGD LTD is the data controller for anything described here. Email [email protected].
Your files
When you open a file, your browser reads it from your device and the code on this page unpacks and draws it on your device. Exports (SVG, PNG, PDF, ZIP and the handoff sheet) are made in your browser and saved straight to your device. The file, the design in it, its pictures, text and anything about them aren’t sent to us or to anyone else. The site’s security policy only lets the page connect to this site and to Cloudflare’s visit counter: to load its own fonts and the sample design, and to send the short note described below. You can check: open your browser’s developer tools, watch the Network tab, and open a file.
When a file opens or won’t open
When a file opens or fails to open, or an export is made or fails, the page tells our server the file type (always “xd”), whether it worked and, if not, a short error category (such as “cloud-stub” or “damaged”), so we can fix files that break. It never sends the file, its name, its size, or anything inside it such as artboard names, text or colours, and nothing identifying you is stored.
What the hosting records
Like any website, the pages have to be sent to you. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect against abuse. ALGD LTD doesn’t use this to build profiles of visitors.
Visit counts, cookies and ads
Afterboard uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies and doesn’t use your browser’s local storage for this. For each page view it records the page address, the page you came from, your browser and device type, your country (worked out from your IP address, which isn’t stored) and how long the page took to load. Cloudflare processes this on our behalf. There’s no advertising and no tracking across other sites.
What’s stored in your browser
If you buy the unlock, your browser’s local storage keeps a note that this browser is unlocked. It stays on your device; clear your site data to remove it. Nothing about your designs is stored.
If you buy the unlock
Payment is handled by Stripe on Stripe’s own pages. ALGD LTD receives the details needed to record the sale, such as your name, email address and the amount paid, and never sees your full card number. These records are kept as long as UK tax rules require. Stripe’s privacy policy covers what Stripe does.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data ALGD LTD holds about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
